Recently finalized regulations point to major changes for long term care providers. New Requirements for Participation for Long Term Care include many new requirements for nursing facility providers, including creating a baseline care plan with 48 hours of admission of a new patient.
Additionally, the reimbursement landscape is changing from fee-for-service to holding providers more accountable for the care by imposing quality metrics. Nursing facility data submission to CMS to calculate the measures for public reporting began in October 2016. Providers will be held accountable for their submission of the data and face payment penalties beginning October 1, 2017 for non-compliance.
